A SHORT STORY OF THE PICTURES

Abstraction. The story begins in a small gallery in Dresden, where I live. A painting by Lyonel Feininger could be seen from the street. The next day I sat in front of a hastily bought canvas with the first colors and brushes and began to paint. The style of his paintings and the lightness in the geometry of the abstractions are my companions to this day. Searching. At the beginning there is the search for forms and contents in training, courses and studies. From the questions and answers of everyday life, pictures can emerge and soon the first exhibitions. The themes of early works were alien to the state power of the now so distant country and soon take down. Grafics. The search led via detours into other professions. The architect draws and depicts, constructs and structures. Since then, this craft has also found its place in the painting that emerged later. Roots. Some questions are as old as we are and have their own history, just like the answers of art, whose roots they are. An inspiring place and silence paved the way there. In this way, picture cycles are created, the exhibitions of which find space in cathedrals and churches.
In the end, it is often the four things, the abstraction, the search, the grafic and the roots, that can be found in one's own works and form the pictorial spaces and the layers of acrylic paints.
